It’s hot out there so send the party into the humid wilderness to meet a many-limbed sovereign or harvest something magical on the way to The Crawling One’s temple, maybe after crossing a Carnivorous River and finding a bit of Karga Fruit near the opposite shore. Encourage the group to play outside for a night (or at least with the windows open) to get the mood right and skip the bug zappers for the most authentic experience as EN5ider Magazine heads into the jungle!
- That many-limbed sovereign is Rocareg Nanduru the Spider-King and his article is one of my favorites yet (including the whole 600+ archive). He is just awesome and the lore around him is too.
- Studious herbalists will be pleased as peaches with the numerous wondrous Living Treasures to be found in the wilderness.
- A half dozen concoctions created from the bounty of nature await in the Jungle Formulary.
- Not all are easily acquired however, often involving a few Tropical Challenges faced along on the way.
- It would be remiss not to include something for lost empires and forgotten gods though—Crawling Temple promises to fulfill that aspect for 4–5 PCs of 6th–8th level. Insect repellent recommended.
