As the Enshrouded team works towards a 1.0 release this year, the fantasy survival RPG gets its eighth big update. Titled “Forging The Path,” this patch focuses on building up the foundations for the full release, including combat reworks, Adventure sharing, a progression overhaul and more.
The long-awaited Aventure Sharing feature arrives with this update, allowing players to officially share and download others’ custom map creations by navigating to the feature through the main menu. While there are some limitations for now, the team says they’ll be lifting those as things develop.
For those who are curious about starting Enshrouded up now with 1.0 in the horizon, they’ve done some upgrades to the early game experience. Not only are there better visuals in these areas, but the map and tutorials have also been tidied up to give more of a ramp-up into learning new gameplay elements.
A ton of practical gameplay changes have been made to make things more exciting. All weapons, and even axes for mining and woodchopping, will now receive special abilities that are tapped into through a “focus” bar. Melee weapons will have their own new heavy attacks activated by holding the attack button, and mages are getting mild buffs, with heavier changes coming for the 1.0 release.
Enshrouded’s progression and skill systems also see a huge overhaul in Update 8. Namely, in order to add easier progression towards higher-tier skills, there’ll be weaker but cheaper versions of the skills that can be leveled up to count towards the skill tree progression. Some gear will also allow their own skill progressions through upgrades. In preparation for this, all skill points have been refunded to players.
Some other quality-of-life changes have been added, too, including an item that quick-sorts everything in your boxes, a walk toggle, generally upgradeable armor all-around and more. The changelog is up on Enshrouded’s Steam page.
