Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related so you don’t have to. This week, you asked and I listened. In today’s Indie MMO Spotlight patch (3.20.22), we are adding a new QoL feature – going forward, a link to each MMO’s official website will be attached to the segment headers (apparently some of you were already clicking on these anyway). Please feel free to report any bug issues that arise in the comments below. Well, that’s enough of me trying to act like a developer. Let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.
Chimeraland
Sometimes while searching for news I come across some weird stuff. I usually don’t mention it, but when I saw this video on the official Chimeraland YouTube channel, I just had to include it in this week’s Spotlight. Wow, just wow.
The Cycle: Frontier
Closed Beta 2 started this week and along with several additions being added to the game, a few bugs made their way into the code. Reworked maps, 3 new faction campaigns, and new fauna variations are a few of the good additions. On the flip side, login problems, crashes, and friends lists issues were just a few of the hiccups this week. Yager has deployed several patches to tidy things up and has done a commendable job of keeping everyone updated through Discord.
If you didn’t get a beta key and are interested in giving The Cycle a try before CB2 ends on April 4, one of the easiest ways to get a key is through Twitch Drops. Just watch two hours of any participating streamer and, voila, you’ll get a key.
Embers Adrift
With the NDA dropped and the beta in full swing, Joe Bradford, Editor at MMORPG.com, was able to chat with Embers Adrift Producer Jonathon Gust. They covered the changes to the studio, the rebranding to Embers Adrift, and MMO development in general. You can catch the full read here.
Fractured Online
Are you into writing fanfiction? If so, grab a pen and paper (or keyboard and mouse) and submit an entry to the Tales From Elysium contest for a chance to win a T-shirt.
gamigo’s Glyph launcher will be required to access the upcoming Fractured Online Closed Beta. Glyph user account migration is scheduled to begin this week, with Dynamight Studios planning to reveal more details early in the week.
Gloria Victis
A new guild leveling system was added to Gloria Victis in Weekly Update 311. As part of the new leveling system, players will see a revamped guild leaderboard and a new guild technologies system. In an effort to make guild and alliance choices more impactful, player accounts will only be able to be tied to one guild at a time.
Profane
INSANE posted an update to their 2022 roadmap. Movement, character creation, and basic combat have all reached the “completed” stage, with architecture and the spawner system close behind. It was clarified in the tweet that complete means the system is ready for testing and that additional work may still be required in the future.
Project F4E
The first pre-launch season, Knights of Power, was held this weekend. Seasons are part of the Project F4E Prologue and will be held every 4 weeks. You will be able to earn rewards throughout the Prologue seasons by completing quests and earning prologue points. You can get all the details on the Knights of Power season here.
Prosperous Universe
In Development Log #326, Fabian talks about upcoming quality-of-life improvements, Nick is back from vacation and announces the winner of the recent Name That Planet contest, and Michi covers how it was the database, not the server, that caused the game outage this week.
Ravendawn
Developer Update #17 was posted on the Ravendawn forums this week. The team is hard at work on implementing the suggestions from Alpha 4, and the post outlines many of the changes players can expect in Alpha 5.
Realm of the Mad God
The Elemental Catalyst Event will begin on March 24 and run through March 28, with multiple locations spawning with modifiers and multipliers. And for those looking for a sneak peek at things to come, the Testing Server has a laundry list of changes that can be previewed right now.
A Township Tale
Patch 0.1.0.4 went live this week, bringing multiple updates to both the PC and Quest versions of ATT. You can find the patch notes on the r/TownshipTale subreddit. There is also a new edition of the Alta Logs. This edition – #5 for those keeping count – provides the answers to some of the popular questions from the last blog survey.
There was also an announcement on the ATT Discord that they are looking for new moderators. Anyone interested can find the application here.

This week, Ramen VR closed out a $35 million Series B financing round. The extra influx of cash means Ramen VR will be able to hire more employees to add polish to the current experience as well as add new leveling and endgame content.
