Ubisoft has confirmed that the next game in the Assassin’s Creed series will be called Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. This came after a Twitter user posted some apparent leaked images earlier in the day.
While there has been speculation for a while on when they would confirm the next game in the franchise, along with guesses on what it would be like, the leaked images may have pushed this timeline forward. Those images had “Assassin’s Creed: Mirage – the Forty Thieves Quest, leading to speculation that that quest would be a possible pre-order bonus mission. With “the Forty Thieves” possibly referring to a story popular in Iraq, speculation continues that the game might be set in Baghdad and be closer to the series’ roots in style.

Aside from the title, Ubisoft was not confirming anything else today, except that they will be featuring the game at its upcoming Ubisoft Forward livestream event coming on September 10th. That’s when we can expect the official introduction and details on our protagonist, where things are going, and what the scope and focus of this entry might be.
Ubisoft has also updated on a previously-announced plan to discontinue online service and delist a number of older games, among them Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed III (2012), and Far Cry 3. These three games in particular have received a bit of a reprieve, With the dates for those games being decommissioned pushed back from today to October 1st.
This affects these games on PC only, because all of the console versions will still have their content downloadable after October 1st. If you play on PC though, you’ll have to activate all of your DLC before the decommissioning happens in order to continue playing your games.
