ARK: Survival Evolved has a year-end gift for everyone: the new Lost Island DLC. The DLC features three new creatures, including a pterosaur you can use as a glider to move around the new 150 square km map that also has ruins to explore, and new challenges. The content arrives with the Winter Wonderland content as well, for additional event fun, but the new map is packed with lots to keep your attention.
The release trailer for the Lost Island DLC shows off the brand new environments, and gives a good idea of what to expect in the new biomes. From the jungle, underwater, swamps, caves, to mysterious ruins, Lost Island should keep players busy for a while. Explore Cascade Rift, a vine covered rainforest chasm that was created by a river, the swamps of Mangrove Mire, or the snows of Castellate Peaks. Those peaks hide some secrets too, with stone fortresses to discover.
Yet, when it comes to ARK, Studio Wildcard has to show us the dinos, right? Well, the three included are the Amargasaurus, a spiny dino whose spines can burn or freeze enemies. Watch out for its tail too if you get close. The Dinopithecus is a huge creature related to baboons that when tamed, can even carry you up high walls. If you tame a whole troop, they can even bomb your enemies with a hail of poop. It is apparently very effective. The Dinopithecus was voted into the DLC by the community.
Finally, there’s the Sinomacrops. Tame this little pterosaur and it will perch on your shoulders and accompany you. Oh, and you’ll also be able to use it as a glider to get away and cross over spaces.
