Behaviour Interactive, the developer behind Dead By Daylight and more, has confirmed a round of layoffs. This also comes as Microsoft has a plan to offer around 7% of employees voluntary buyouts.
As for the Behaviour Interactive cuts, the company confirmed that they had laid off staff but did not mention or confirm any numbers. In a statement, a company spokesperson said,
“A portion of Behaviour Interactive’s business has traditionally focused on external development partnerships. In recent months, demand for mobile and casual external development projects has declined. As we conclude our remaining engagements and do not foresee comparable opportunities in the near term, we have made the decision to part ways with some colleagues.”
The company says they will support affected employees in some way. Dead By Daylight continues going strong, with the company revealing a new, expanded Age of Titan collaboration.
Microsoft isn’t laying off again just yet. They’re planning to offer buyout packages to about 7% of their workforce in May, according to CNBC. These voluntary buyouts are the first time Microsoft has done this. According to the CNBC report, eligibility criteria is being at the senior director level or below, with a total combination of age and years at the company with a sum of 70 or above. May 7th looks to be the date when eligible employees will get their offers.
“Our hope is that this program gives those eligible the choice to take that next step on their own terms, with generous company support,” a memo from a Microsoft SVP says.
