Once again, the critically-acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 has a promotion that’s taken the community by surprise. In North American and Canada, Square Enix has teamed up with Jollibee, of all places, to sell specialty meals and merchandise for an in-game reward.

Starting this coming Tuesday, April 21, those who pick up whatever this promotion is putting down will get the “Eat Chicken” emote, which not only has the player eating a piece of chicken, but also holding a (thankfully unbranded) bucket as well.

For those willing to have a whole meal for the privilege, there’ll be two options. The first, more geared toward individuals, will be a variety box meal that features a chicken sandwich, a piece of chicken, a side, a peach mango pie, and a specialty drink—either the Blueberry Raspberry Aether with Crystal Boba drink in America, or the classic Pineapple Quencher in Canada.

The second option for the whole household (or one very enthusiastic chicken eater) is a bucket bundle, which includes six pieces of chicken and three of the aforementioned specialty drinks, either the Blueberry Raspberry Aether with Crystal Boba drink in America, or the Pineapple Quencher in Canada.

During the promo dates between April 21 and May 31, and assumedly so long as there are supplies, you’ll get the code as long as you get the chosen deal, regardless of acquisition method.

The other option will be through a merchandise collaboration with popular clothing brand Complex (which is one heck of a combination), which features images such as the Jollibee himself riding a chocobo.

Once you get a code, as described on the Lodestone, you’ll have to go to the code redemption page on Jollibee’s site (which isn’t live yet at the time of writing, but may be when the promo launches) to put the code from your purchase into. Do this by November 30, and you’ll be given a code for the emote. Notably, this only appears to give you one code for a single character, so if you have alts, you might have to eat quite a lot of chicken. More details are outlined on the Lodestone page.

While this chain is from the Philippines, this FFXIV promotion unfortunately only seems to be in North America and Canada, which understandably has some actual Filipinos upset. (This also happened with the Gong Cha promotion, where other Southeast Asian countries had it but the Philippines didn’t.) Hopefully they get their moment.

It’s not too great for a bulk of America, either, though—the chain lists only 83 stores as Open across 15 states, with 35 in California alone (likely due to the high Asian population), 7 in New York City, 5 in Hawaii (which has many Filipinos) and, somehow, 6 in New Jersey (which, as a New Jersey Filipino myself—yeah). Canada’s a little more dire yet, with only 28 locations across the massive country, 12 of which are in Ontario alone and 8 in Alberta. Unfortunately, this also means the Jollibee near the Vatican is also excluded.

This comes right before the start of the FFXIV Fan Festival in Anaheim, where there happens to be a Jollibee that’ll be decked out in themed stuff for the festival itself (and is open from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., which means I’ll probably be getting breakfast there, honestly). All of this also preempts the start of the final Dawntrail patches, which saw a Live Letter showing off gameplay, explaining more details and unveiling this promotion.

[Author’s Note: Also, I swear I’m not biased because I’m Filipino, but Jollibee really is that good. Almost as good as Popeyes. Definitely better than KFC, which also makes it leagues better than CFA.]
