For nearly 4 weeks now, problems related of the FFXIV 6.1 updates’ housing lottery have been ongoing. Back in April, Producer and Director of Final Fantasy 14, Naoki Yoshida addressed concerns related to several severe bugs which prevented players from successfully winning their bids, and in some cases, plots shows that there were no applicants at all. In the latest message, Yoshida has outlined the steps that they will take going forward to resolve the housing problem.
If you’ve been waiting on a resolution to the FFXIV housing lottery problem, you don’t have much longer to wait. According to Naoki Yoshida, the team will restore the housing data on May 16th, which will then give players just over a week to finalize their purchase.
Some players may be happy to find that they have actually won their bids even if they had their Gil returned due to the “Winning Lottery Number of 0” error. Luckily, even if your deposit was refunded, you’ll still have the opportunity to claim your land. For those that did have their deposit returned, they are allowing players to voluntarily return the deposit by way of an NPC in patch 6.2. It’s important to understand that if you haven’t claimed the land that you won by May 26th at 8AM PDT, you will lose the ability to claim it, and will have to participate in the next lottery cycle.
“These issues have been extensive and persistent, and I truly apologize for the time it has taken to resolve them. However, I am pleased to report that we have completed preparations to implement our fixes and restore lottery data.
- Reproducing the Issue
- Fixing Identified Errors
- Verifying Fixes
- Restoring Lottery Data
We have completed the above steps to identify and correct the reported issues and are now ready to conduct maintenance on the public servers. “
-Naoki Yoshida, Director and Producer, FFXIV
Yoshida insists that the team has been working hard to make things right in relation to this stressful issue. They don’t wish to exacerbate the issue by performing any sort of rollback to obtain the initial deposits that some people were refunded. Rather, the team wants to simply bring players the functional housing system they promised, and will diligently work towards fixing any issues that arise that may prevent that from happening. The next housing lottery is planned for May 26th at 8AM PDT, with a 5-day entry period followed by a 4-day result period.
