During today’s TennoCon, Digital Extremes announced quite a few new initiatives for their looter shooter, Warframe. The New War, the upcoming story-driven expansion to the online shooter, will be releasing later this year, and with the trailer players got a first look at the gameplay during today’s stream.
The next chapter in the Warframe story will see players taking part in what Rebecca Ford, Live Operations and Community Director for Warframe, calls a “very personal and intimate storyline with a dramatic narrative, unexpected experiences and cinematic action sequences.”
During the presentation at TennoCon 2021, the team showed off nearly 30 minutes of the upcoming The New War expansion, including seeing Corpus Engineer Veso, Grineer Soldier Kahl-175 and Dax warrior Tenshin all playable in the quest.
Also coming in Waframe are simultaneous updates to the MMO, meaning that all versions, from PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series consoles, as well as PlayStation 4 and PS5 machines, will all receive updates at the same time now. This will include all future updates, notably the upcoming The New War expansion later this year. Additionally, Cross Save and Cross Play will be making their way to Warframe, seeing players picking up where they left off on their platform of choice. Interestingly, Digital Extremes also let it be known that a version of Warframe is actually running on mobile platforms as well, with a mobile version in active development.
