Honey, they shrunk the release date! Or, more appropriately Obsidian has finally given us the release date for Grounded after teasing the release window last month. The spider-fighting, bug taming, miniature misadventure will release on Xbox Game Pass for PC and Console, and it will also be available on Steam.

Grounded has come a long way since they announced their development 3 years ago. During that time, players have been able to jump into the game and help Obsidian mold the game through gameplay metrics and feedback. Throughout the development of Grounded, the team was able to add numerous features that players were requesting. When the game launches, bug taming, aquatic exploration, and an expanded story are just some of the features that players can look forward to.

For those that may have forgotten, Grounded is a co-op survival game where four children shrink, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids style, and are tasked with finding a way to make themselves big again. Each character will have their own personality, and in order to survive, you’ll need to chop down blades of grass, find ways to protect yourself with armor and weapons, and of course, uncover the secrets in mini laboratories hidden throughout the yard.

Although Grounded has not reached its full release version yet, the team at Obsidian has celebrated over 10 million micro-warriors who have entered the backyard. The Steam reviews for Grounded are very positive, sitting at an 85% positive rating. It also boasts a pretty robust playerbase with around 3000 daily peak players on Steam, and undoubtedly many more on Xbox. Luckily Grounded features cross play, so you can join your friends no matter where they are.

With the release fast approaching, there is still a lot of final-stretch testing left to do. If you’re interested in jumping into the game and giving it a go, you can play by signing up for Xbox Game Pass or you can purchase Grounded on Steam for 29.99.
