HoYoverse has confirmed that Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.8, titled “New: Eridan Sunset,” drops on May 6 across all platforms, closing out Season 2 and bringing a pair of new S-Rank agents along for the ride. If that weren’t enough, the studio also announced the game is finally coming to Steam, with cross-platform data compatibility and wishlist milestones that unlock special rewards.
Version 2.8 caps Season 2 with a story centered on the mysterious Ramiel, who has become the target of every major faction in the Outer Ring. Promeia, the Krampus executioner, enters as an intelligence contact and forms an uneasy alliance with the Proxies, Cissia, and an upgraded Billy to track Ramiel down. The investigation takes a sharp turn, setting up what sounds like a significant power shift heading into Season 3.
On the agent side, Promeia is an S-Rank Ice Anomaly character built around triggering Abloom by consuming Trial by Cold, a resource generated from Corrosive Chill. Her EX Special Attack activates a defensive state that lets her auto-execute Perfect Dodges when hit, and she buffs squad Abloom damage when another Anomaly or Support agent is present. She debuts in Phase 1 alongside a Lucia rerun.
Phase 2 brings Starlight – Billy, the fully upgraded version of Billy, one of the original agents, now an S-Rank Physical Rupture agent with a combat motorcycle and a signature flying kick. His damage scales off maximum Health, all of his attacks count as Sheer damage, and he can restore his own Health mid-fight. He arrives with a rerun of Orphie and Magus.
2.8 also adds a new Wind attribute enemy type and introduces the Vortex combat mechanic, which triggers AoE Anomaly damage matching the applied element when Wind Anomaly enemies are hit with additional attribute anomalies, essentially replacing Disorder in those matchups. It is a meaningful addition to team-building considerations heading into endgame content.
On the cosmetic front, Hoshimi Miyabi gets a new outfit called Dignified Blossom, available in the shop at launch. The Marcel Bootopia event tasks players with controlling Eous to rescue Bangboos from a Hollow-afflicted resort island, with the A-Rank Booltergeist Bangboo as a reward. A new Polychrome Guide feature has also been added to help track limited-time rewards, along with storage management optimizations and an auto-delete function.
Outside the update itself, Zenless Zone Zero original soundtrack vinyl sets go up for pre-order through Laced Records on April 29. The Steam launch represents a first for HoYoverse, as no other game from the studio has been available on the platform. Version 2.8 launches May 6 on consoles, PC, iOS, and Android.
