For those who have followed the Early Access release of Myth of Empires, a serious issue was found that led to the servers going offline suddenly. The team announced that there would be an emergency maintenance, for the yet unidentified issue. They’ve since updated that they now know what the issue is and the emergency maintenance continues.
According to the official update, there was “a serious problem that could compromise the user’s account” and the team decided that leaving the servers offline to perform urgent maintenance was the way to go. They still haven’t publicly identified the issue of concern, but if it is something that could compromise user data or account security, leaving that until the maintenance is complete was the right call.
As far as when maintenance is expected to be completed, they estimate servers will be down until at least 2 a.m. UTC/9 p.m. Eastern, with an approximate uptime announced around 1:30 a.m. UTC/8:30 p.m. Eastern. Servers went down suddenly so there was no prior notice because of the immediate nature of the situation. To help make up for the inconvenience and sudden downtime, there will be some kind of compensation once the servers are back online.
Myth of Empires went into Early Access this month. The sandbox features an open-world with lots of life, creatures, environments, and a crafting system as well as emphasis on social gameplay. Players decide whether they want to unite, recruiting others by agreement or force to create cities on the continent or if they want to create empires out of the counties surrounding them. There should be much more information out by tomorrow as to what happened and where the community goes from there.
