Update 1.2.0 for Dual Universe has arrived, and it brings several new features, including a new tactical map feature, a brand new planet, or rather, a revamped one. Talemai returns, this time as a frozen world that is fitted with ancient lava flows. Expect a new spawn system for asteroids, two new alien cores, a series of balance changes, and a round of fixes.
The planet of Talemai is here, and things are a little different. With its return, it’s now what Novaquark is calling “a frozen world marred with ancient lava flows that still glow red with heat from the world beneath”. Sounds like an inviting place. It will be, though, since the planet has six new markets, a new mission construct, and three moons packed with resources. These resources include coal, quarts, malachite, cryolite, and even gold nuggets, representing new ore pools.
The update also adds a new feature, a tactical map, that will appear for gunner seat and widget radar. This uses the system map visual tech, and in conjunction with what you pick up via your active radar, will provide a tactical display of surrounding constructs. You’ll be able to click on the display construct marks and identify the target, and even engage. the new map feature uses simplified construct icons and a color coding system so once you adjust, you’ll have a better view of what’s going on.
Another feature is that space wrecks are also now broadcast on the system map. You’ll need a radar to actually find the exact position, but approximate coordinates for space wrecks will now appear on the system map, giving a head start that there’s something out there to be gained.
The update also changes the spawn system for asteroids, ending the global cycle and giving each asteroid its own spawn and individual lifetime. Other changes include making asteroid discoveries known only to those making the discovery.
