Final Fantasy VII REBIRTH, which is the second part in what we now know as a trilogy in the Final Fantasy VII REMAKE series, is coming next winter. This was announced, alongside a first look trailer, during Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII 25th Anniversary event today.

The ten-minute stream touched on a few different Final Fantasy VII titles in development, including the remake to the RPG’s prequel, called CRISIS Core – Final Fantasy – REUNION, as well as the now officially unveiled follow-up to Final Fantasy VII REMAKE Intergrade. The upcoming sequel will continue the story told in the first installment and will arrive on PlayStation 5 next winter.

We also now know that the REMAKE series will be told in three parts, though via today’s press release, creative director Tetsuya Nomura has stated that fans could even use REBIRTH as their jumping-off point.

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is being designed so that people can enjoy this game whether they know the original game or not. In fact, new players might even enjoy starting their FINAL FANTASY VII journey with FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH. Cloud and his friends embark on a new journey in this game, and I believe that the scenes that they witness after leaving Midgar will give players a fresh, new experience. I can’t wait to share the intention behind naming the first title, “REMAKE,” and the second title, “REBIRTH.” In time, I hope to reveal what the third title will be called, and where this journey will ultimately lead.”

Also announced today was Final Fantasy VII REMAKE Intergrade is coming to Steam after a period of exclusivity on the Epic Game Store. The title, which wasn’t the best port on PC when it launched, is also going to be supporting Steam Deck. The aforementioned CRISIS CORE remake will be coming to every major platform, including Nintendo Switch, this Winter.
