World of Warcraft players can relive Wrath of the Lich King when Classic updates to the expansion in just a few weeks. Blizzard is detailing, or refreshing us all on Borean Tundra and Howling Fjord, two starting zones in the expansion.

These two starting zones are for level 68 to 72, and you can choose either regardless of your faction. Borean Tundra is in the southwest corner of Northrend and it’s a tundra, so expect it to be a flat and barren cold land, although you’ll find some rock and a little sparse grass. You’ll also see a fortress known as Coldarra, made of ice and stone and located within arctic cliffs.

There’s a fortress here for Horde characters to start their journey called Warsong Hold. The Alliance will begin from Valiance Keep, their stronghold, where the Lich King’s army continuously tries to strike, so if you start here, part of your challenge will be to defend it.

The preview also introduces some of the inhabitants of the frozen zone, including the taunka, an ancient relative of the tauren, the tuskarr (whose capital city of Kaskala is in the Borean Tundra), the Drakkari ice trolls, and the Undead Scourge.

The Howling Fjord isn’t a tundra, but the lands are tough in their own ways. Cliffs, dark forests, outcroppings, and other natural risky terrain are all around.

Sylvanas and the Forsaken are ready to strike at the Lich King from the Horde starting area, New Agamand. Valgarde Keep is where the Alliance starts. It’s also heavily fortified and you’ll have to learn more about the attacking forces,  a race of half giants known as the vry’kul, that keep coming back and learn why they’ve returned.

If you are looking to get yourself started in Northrend next month when Wrath Classic comes out on September 26th, it might be time to start thinking about where you want to start your journey.
