We’re finally getting a look at what Skull and Bones Year 3 looks like, with a new roadmap, Year 3 stream, and an AMA set for tonight.
Ubisoft Singapore team held a stream to lay out Year 3 season 1, as well as some of what else they’re developing for later in the year. The team has been teasing some of these additions recently, with only a little context, and now we get to learn more.
First up is a new large ship, the Galleon. This is a huge ship that they’re calling a “broadside brawler”. Sometime later, we will get two more new large ships: the Junk, which they refer to in the trailer above as “Inferno Juggernaut”, and the Fluyt, “Guardian of the Fleet”.
Year 3, Season 1 goes live May 12th and offers a new power progression system called the Season MasteryTree and associated perks to go along with it. Each season, new loadouts become available, by way of these new perks and build options. The trailer has a few examples that will be possible with the new feature.
For those who want some new challenges, World Tiers are coming to offer guidance and a path for beginners and those who want to get better and face tougher stuff
Shallow Waters will be for ship rank 4-12. Cutthroat Seas, for rank 12-17, if for those ready to step into Faction War and competition. Rogue Storms, for 17-22, is for those looking to master their ship and take on additional new season challenges and face enemies that have powerful modifiers. Finally, Brutal Tempest is for rank 22-30, with endgame content at a difficulty for those who want to prove themselves against the hardest content Skull and Bones has to offer.

Speaking of new content, Trials are coming sometime in the season, new Abyssal Depths and elite boss challenges, quality of life improvements, and more. Also new power progression systems that offer mod transfer and equipment sets.

Today, the Skull and Bones dev team is holding an AMA on Reddit. You can still submit questions here, and come back when the team arrives at 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time / 11:00 p.m. Eastern.
They plan to talk about all things year three, expanding upon the seasonal Mastery system they just unveiled, world tiers, ships, naval combat, and more.
