Opening Aeternum to the public, New World will be hosting a new beta ahead of its September 28th launch. The open beta itself will run from September 9th through the 12th.

Announced during today’s Gamescom Opening Night Live, New World is opening the floodgates one more time ahead of its launch, which was delayed by a month out of August. The beta will be open to everyone, and the team is really looking to further test its servers and more ahead of its final launch on the 28th.

“During Closed Beta, we ran into both server issues and over-population resulting in queue times, preventing some players from being able to experience the danger and beauty found in Aeternum. To ensure that everyone has a chance to experience New World ahead of our September 28 launch, we’re excited to announce that we will be holding an Open Beta test. The Open Beta test will utilize Steam’s new Playtest feature, which allows all interested players in our supported regions to request access to the test, for free. Servers will be available in North America, Europe, Australia and South America.”

The servers will open up at 7am PT on September 9th and run through 11:59pm PT on September 12th, providing a full weekend to play the MMO ahead of launch, and really decide whether or not this is for you heading into its release.

During the Gamescom stream, game director Scot Lane talked briefly with Geoff Keighley as well, stating that the team is hard at work on post-launch content based on fan feedback, such as a desire for more of the mystical elements of New World as well as even more group content to do with friends.
